All your pictures look great! I do think you should try to edit the first picture in black and white to see if the results are better than your current one. On the other hand, your third picture is beautiful! I like how you've brought out the shade of red and the grainy texture enhances the picture for me, so great job on that :)
Hi Matt. Your first and third images are really nice! Perhaps a touch more processing for certain details, but they are well on their way. I think you could save the second image with better processing but I'm not sure about image 4 & 5. Image 4 just isn't as visually interesting as the others and pretty much contains the same info Left to Right, Top to Bottom. If there was some transitions there or negative space then maybe, but in it's current form, no. As for image 5, I don't think it's an abstraction and you (and others) need to be careful when de-saturating only certain areas. While it can be a "cool" effect, that is where it stops most of the time, and as it is with most effect they wear off! So while I'm thrilled that you tried it and that experimented with it, I don't feel as though it is beneficial for the content of the photo.
