36 A.M- A Self Portrait

  1. Hi Dana! awesome pictures as usual, though this time you did an even better job especially with your last picture, it's my favorite! I love how you've portrayed yourself in a very raw and original manner but made the picture look so aesthetic (including the 5th picture).
If I had to improve anything personally, I would try to bring out the colors more in your 4th picture, and maybe try out the third picture in B&W :)

    1. Hi Dana, I love the colorful food series and the last 2 self portraits. I love you how in the 5th image, everything looks calm but then in the next image, you experiment with the slower shutter speed to communicate a sense of chaos/instability. I love that! For the third image, I agree with Aditya. Process the image into B&W and play around with contrast and highlight to avoid the image looking flat. The 4th image might be my least favorite. I think you could improve it by having a figure visible in the yellow light and capturing it exactly like how you captured this image. Keeping the bush coming in from both left corners. Look up Yokomizo Shizuka's work to get the idea of what I am talking about. Great job on these series overall! Looking forward to seeing what else you create! Keep it up!

  2. Hi Dana. Just so you are aware, the 36AM images don't have to be a self-portrait, although they could be, as it's a natural place for them. I enjoy your two self-portraits and I find the different angles and use of shutter speeds to be successful. I would continue working on them and use even more motion/abstraction in them. As for the windows, I agree with the above and more/better processing is needed. I would make both B&W and I do like the masks, at least as sign of the times. The food shots are getting there. I definitely enjoy the lack of focus in them but feel as though there is something missing. Perhaps working with better light, more space and trying to work a mood into them. Best of Luck!

  3. Hi Dana. Im late to writing these comments but i think your work here is really creative. I really enjoyed all of your images. I think that your 4th photo could use a bit more in term of content. I really like your use of slowed shutter speed in the last portrait. I also think that more contrast could be added to your second image, keep up the great work!
